The Stuffing of Legends: Iconic Turkey Friday Collaborations – The Cinema Edition

Behind every great collaboration there’s an origin story. The Avengers were heroically brought together by some classic Loki mischief (source: this random YouTube video). Forest and Bubba’s shrimp empire was born after two army guys became best friends, and one of them got shot in the buttocks. And once upon a time, a beloved cowboy and space ranger joined forces to save helpless toys from the evil Sid and reunite with Andy, their one true bestie. In every great collaboration, legends are born.

And now, as we embark on yet another year of pies, turkeys, and disagreements over whether cranberry sauce is delightful or a disgrace (team cranberry sauce here), there’s one iconic and often overlooked culinary collaboration we’d like to pay homage to – the lifegiving recipes of Turkey Friday.

What’s Turkey Friday, you ask? Only the most wondrous nod to food innovation to exist since its ever-popular predecessor, sliced bread. Turkey Friday is the isle of misfit toys finding their true purpose and meeting Santa Clause. It’s Remember the Titans meets that Julia Child cookbook movie. Essentially, Turkey Friday is a day devoted entirely to leftovers, and weaving magic from run-of-the-mill Thanksgiving dishes. Ever heard of a Thanksgiving pizza? Now you have. It’s made on a Friday from turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and Tony Stark level genius – the culinary collaboration we never knew we needed.

Sure, on a typical Friday you’d find the JB Ashtin team dedicating its years of expertise and brainpower to handcrafting intricate solutions that connect pharma and biotech companies with their target audience and strengthen relationships between healthcare providers and their patients. Yes, this is a shameless plug – call
JB Ashtin for all your med comm needs!
But as I’m sure you’ve surmised, Turkey Friday is no typical Friday.

Allow us to set the scene: It’s the day after Thanksgiving. You roll out of bed in your stretchiest and coziest pajamas and make your way to the kitchen for a fancy day-off brunch. Your fridge is chock full of food, but turkey and mashed potatoes seem like an odd choice for breakfast. You glance around the leftovers trying to gauge what you’re in the mood for when suddenly, your gaze stops at a single carton of eggs. Could it be? Do I dare? Shan’t I tiptoe the elusive border of food pairings in the hopes of stumbling upon absolute culinary wizardry? “I DO dare!” you shout triumphantly while grabbing eggs, turkey, and all the fixin’s. And in the time it takes to heat up the oven, you’ve created a Thanksgiving breakfast casserole. Then for lunch, a Thanksgiving sandwich. For dinner? Turkey pizza! It is the Friday to rival all Fridays, and a food collaboration for the ages. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks will play the movie version of this moment, and later, Taylor Swift will write a ten-minute song about it, except this one will have a happy ending.

2021 is the year we pay tribute to iconic collaborations. Recipes that start with a few unlikely ingredients and through teamwork, ingenuity, imagination, and a little bit of scrappiness, create something magical that warms the belly and the soul. And just like Turkey Friday, JB Ashtin is all about collaborating, building relationships, making connections, and creating magic. We believe in you, the work you do, and the lives you impact. At the end of the day, our clients are our very best collaborations. We’re thankful for you. <3

So without further adieu, please enjoy, The Stuffing of Legends: Iconic Turkey Friday Collaborations – The Cinema Edition.

Note: it’s important to keep an open mind while browsing these recipes. Don’t put turkey in a box, otherwise it may get an attitude and team up with the other Thanksgiving dishes, then trash the library, have a killer dance scene, and write an essay that sounds a little bit like…“You see us as you want to see us – in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a turkey, mashed potatoes, a basket of rolls, pumpkin pie, and cranberry sauce. Does that answer your question?

Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club (sandwich).

Bon Appétit, friends! We hope your time with family and friends is as wonderful as you are. Happy Thanksgiving!
