Turkeys and Time Machines

Turkeys and Time Machines

It’s the year 2000. My best friend and I are in my grandma’s living room dancing to Blink-182’s “All the Small Things.” We crank the volume right as Tom DeLonge’s perfectly nasal voice sings “Turn the lights off, carry me home” and collapse into a fit of “Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, na, nas” before falling to the floor in exhaustion. Then, for the nineteenth time, we rewind the cassette tape, and start the song over.

Music has the unique ability to encapsulate our fondest memories. With the crash of a symbol or the riff of a guitar, we’re transported to another year, another decade, another time. One minute you’re sitting at a computer wrapping up another quarter of expense reports and thinking to yourself, “How did I get behind on these again?” when Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” comes streaming through your speakers, and suddenly you’re at your high school dance, 17 years old, with acid washed jeans, and a mullet you’ll one day look back on with a headshake and a smile. Music is nature’s time machine.

Like our youth, JB Ashtin’s journey can also be defined and traced by a soundtrack of sorts, but not in the traditional sense. Our team isn’t jamming to AC/DC as we prepare for poster season. Rather, our soundtrack comprises the exquisite balance and rhythm we’ve developed with our wonderful clients who we’ve been fortunate enough to partner with for the last 2 decades. You all are the “Sweet Caroline’s” of our lives, and we’re fortunate and grateful for the opportunity to focus on your needs.

From this sentiment, JB Ashtin’s sixth annual holiday cookbook theme was born. JB Ashtin’s Platinum Playlist: a collection of our team’s favorite recipes (along with some non-traditional ones), wrapped in classic elements of music and a good pun or two, to be nostalgically enjoyed with your loved ones, just as you would a favorite tune.

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving season, members of our team offer you a few words that express our appreciation for being the true rock stars in our lives.

We thank you for your commitment to physician education; your goal to develop effective therapies that target serious maladies; and, most importantly, your desire to improve the lives of patients. Your impact is greater than you know.

Warmest wishes this holiday season.

The JB Ashtin team
