Embracing innovations in medical communications

The JB Ashtin Innovation Team’s Journey

The field of medical communications is ever changing — and so are the ways scientific data can be disseminated. (In just one example, look how frequently people talk-to-text instead of calling each other). At JB Ashtin, we know it is essential to stay on top of innovations to provide our clients with state-of-the-art solutions. Our Innovation Team, formed at the beginning of 2023, embarked on a journey to redefine the way we engage with technology and innovation in medical communications.

Our team, drawn from our crew of dedicated medical communication professionals, was tasked with researching the latest innovations in our field and developing new ways we can help clients make an even greater impact.

After 6 months of research and study, we found 4 main categories of innovations that are reshaping the field:

1. Gamification: Leveraging game-like elements to engage and educate both healthcare professionals and patients
2. Digital tools: Harnessing the power of digital solutions to streamline communication and data management, adding speed and overall efficiency
3. Artificial intelligence: Exploring the efficiencies of AI, from content development to disease-state education
4. Advances in dissemination: Crafting effective strategies for sharing vital medical information with healthcare professionals and the public

Our next step was turning our innovation team into an innovation engine! We dedicated time to make our findings actionable. We are collaborative by nature, so we worked with external partners to map out next steps and define the value these innovations bring to our clients, and then pinpointed the clients who could benefit most from these services.

Now the practical application of our findings is our top priority. Some of our next steps are:

• Actively testing several of these solutions to measure their real-world impact and value
• Creating a comprehensive training program that aims to invigorate the spirit of strategic and innovative thinking
• Adding team members who share our passion for innovation, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise in the mix

Our vision extends beyond embracing innovation to laying the groundwork for continued success of our Innovation Team. Our goal is to ensure that JB Ashtin remains at the forefront of medical communications while upholding the highest ethical standards and best practices in our field.
