Breast cancer doesn’t discriminate; it affects so many near to us, from our mothers, daughters, and partners to our cherished siblings, friends, and aunts.
This spring, metastatic breast cancer took my aunt Sharron after her 18-year fight. I spent a lot of time with her over the last several years and saw how she suffered. I realize I’m not the only one who has been deeply impacted by this disease.
In memory of my aunt and in honor of our JB Ashtin team members who have faced their own battles or supported their loved ones through this journey, we’re once again supporting the Pink Fund this October.
What sets the Pink Fund apart is its unique approach to supporting breast cancer patients. It provides essential financial assistance, helping them meet their basic needs and focus on their healing. A cancer diagnosis often robs patients of their ability to work, adding to the emotional and financial strain for both the patient and their support system.
The Pink Fund’s 90-day grant program helps breast cancer patients meet their critical expenses for housing, transportation, utilities, and insurance. They provide financial help for all women with breast cancer, including those with metastatic disease. If you can imagine how having the illness feels, you can imagine the relief that would wash over you from receiving this assistance.
This financial support provides a lifeline at a time when two-thirds of Americans have less than $1,000 in savings, one-fifth of Americans don’t even have a savings account, and one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. By supporting the Pink Fund, we contribute to the well-being and hope of those in need during their most trying moments.
Please consider joining us in supporting the Pink Fund.
I miss my aunt but I’m happy to be part of helping so many other women fighting her fight.
